Content

Slatwall has a built in CMS (a content management system, or CMS for short) called Slatwall CMS that can be set up in place of or along with third party CMS software such as Mura. If you choose to use Mura or another third party CMS software program, Slatwall will dynamically pull content pages from these integrated programs, that have been marked for product listing, and list them in the Content section of the site. Slatwall CMS pages will also appear here.

To navigate to the Content section of the site:

  • Click Products on the Slatwall toolbar.
  • Select Content from the drop-down

The Content listing screen will appear.

In the upper right hand corner of the screen is a drop-down to select the site to view the Content for that site.

Each entry on the Content listing screen displays the Content Title, Sell This Content, whether the content is a Product Listing Page and if it is Active.

Editing Mura or other third party CMS software content

If the site is a third party CMS like Mura, certain things about the page can be edited from the Contents listing, by clicking to the right of the content. Most things that are editable serve as overrides for the settings established on the Slatwall tab of the page in Mura. The actual content would be edited in the Site Manager of Mura. Note also that you can't add in pages here, they must be added in the Site Manager of the Mura. Below is a screen shot of a Mura content page opened in Slatwall Content.

On the Basic accordion:

  • Active (Yes/No). Determines whether this content can be used in the backend (checking yes is neccesary for adding products to this page).
  • Display in Navigation (Yes/No)
  • Exclude From Search (Yes/No)
  • Product Listing Page (Yes/No). Determines whether this content can have products assigned to it.
  • Sell This Content (Yes/No). Determines whether this content can be individually purchased (on Slatwall tab in Mura; hidden until access has been restricted via subscription and/or purchase).
  • Sort Order - The numerical orderin which the content appears
  • Site - The site where content appears.
  • Parent Content - The parent content for the content being edited.

The Products accordion shows which slatwall products have this cms content page selected as a Listing Page.

On the Settings accordion:

  • Restrict access. Determines whether this content is restricted through subscription and/or purchase (on Slatwall tab in Mura). A page cannot be restricted and a product listing page simultaneously.

  • Include Products from Child Listing Pages. Determines whether products from child listing pages will be included.
  • No Access Template. If content is restricted, determines which template is used until either a purchase or subscription has granted access to the remainder of the page's content; typically a barrier template is used, such as a Pay Wall or Protected Content template. Click on the pencil icon to select.

  • Content Meta Description String. Click on the edit icon to edit or add.

Editing or Adding Slatwall CMS pages in Content

Once the Slatwall CMS has been added as a site in the Sites section of Slatwall and the necessary coding has been put in place for the pages to appear in the Content section of the site, you can edit existing pages and add additional pages.

Select the Slatwall CMS site from the drop-down on the Content listing screen.

If you would like to add a page, click on the + sign to the right of the page that you would like to be the parent page. So, if you want the page to be directly below Home, click on the + sign to the right of Home.

The Create Content screen will display.

Fill in the Title and URL Title, set it to Active yes or no, select a template type and set whether it is a Product Listing page and if you will be selling this content. Then click Create.

A new screen will appear with accordions.

Decide if the page should be included in navigation and excluded from search.
